A large donation from the 100+ Women Who Care organization will help the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre raise awareness about missing and murdered indigenous woman.
The $14,500 donation will go towards bringing a commemorative art installation for the missing and murdered indigenous women of Canada and the USA.
Communications Coordinator for Walking with Our Sisters, Omarla Cooke says the money raised shows the community cares about the importance of this issue.
“It just shows that our community is behind us, first of all and also shows that it is an important cause for all of the Grande Prairie area.”
Cooke says, the exhibition is set to arrive in the summer of 2018.
She adds, Walking with Our Sisters will be holding events over the Spring to help raise more money towards the art exhibition.
100+ Women Who Care, is a Grande Prairie and area group that meets four times a year and fundraises for local charities and groups.
