A partnership between three local school districts and NuVista Energy will pave the way for local grade 12 students to complete eight standard industry tickets.
The duel credit opportunity will allow students to study at Grande Prairie Regional College and a $25,000 donation from NuVista Energy will cut tuition cost for students from $1110 to $227.
Superintendent of Grande Prairie Public School District, Alexander McDonald, says the partnership will ready students for employment upon graduation.
“This partnership means a great deal to us because the opportunity to support those students who have an interest in moving into work right after high school and support their transition from the student world to the adult world is a tremendous opportunity.”
McDonald says there are about 47 students taking the course.
