After making their first playoff appearance in four years and getting swept in the opening round by Whitecourt, the focus has turned to the 2017-18 campaign for the Grande Prairie Storm.
Spring camp was held over the weekend and recently named general manager Mark Bomersback is already making an impact with the team.
“Mark did a great job finding some of the high-end skill and speed that we were looking for,” said Matt Keillor, head coach of the Grande Prairie Storm. “We’ll have a few announcements to make here shortly on some future prospect players that we found out of our camp.”
About 80 players attended the camp, with 30 being local guys. Keillor anticipates nearly half the roster will be Peace Region products next season.
“Pleasantly surprised with the skill level and the compete level of the kids. Felt it was a great camp and that we got out of it exactly what we were hoping for,” he added.
Storm scouts will be at the Telus Cup in Prince George, which goes April 24-30.
