A dozen people have announced their candidacy for this fall’s municipal election in Grande Prairie.
That includes current councillor’s Kevin McLean and Chris Thiessen, as well as Mayor Bill Given.
“I’m hoping to get elected again, but that’s called democracy and you never know,” said McLean. “I’m looking forward to having an exciting campaign and lots of new people bringing in new ideas, that’s important.”
“I’d like to see residential streets be all solar power,” he added. “We need someone that’s asking the tough questions on our taxes. We are number one in Alberta, I’ve been fighting this issue for years, we need someone still fighting it.”
Nomination day is scheduled for September 18, 2017. Municipal elections are set for October 16 right across Alberta.
