Grande Prairie City Council has set aside funding for the Richmond Industrial Park Storm Ponds.
GP Project Technologist, Andrew Booth says, over the past few years flooding has been an issue in the area and the ponds would help alleviate the problem.
If approved, the first steps of the project would be the creation of a design, project management and site assessment.
Booth says the first Environmental Site Assessment has been completed.
“The City has completed a phase one Environmental Site Assessment on these lands, we have a report, the report identified that there is potential for contaminants, so the next step would be our engineers will be doing a phase two Environment Site Assessment and that looks more detailed, they actually take drills and samples, so they will find out if and what the contamination is and where and how much.”
The engineering of the project would cost $268,496.00.
