The County of Grande Prairie is in search of nominations for its Kind Heart Awards Program.
The award will be given to people who have been recognized by a neighbour for a selfless contribution to the community.
The Kind Heart Program gave its first award to Norma Jean Steeves for helping her neighbour during an extended illness.
Some things Steeves did for her neighbour included shoveling their walkway and driveway, mowing the lawn, and bringing meals and desserts.
“Norma just offers this help and shows up when she sees a need. She never has to be asked, nor does she expect anything in return,” said Mary Drysdale, the neighbour who nominated her.
“We know that there’s lots of people out there doing lots of good things for their friends and neighbours and we want to recognize that,” explained FCSS Director Kathleen Turner “It’s just another example of the great place the County is to live.”
Nominees will receive a letter of recognition, a certificate, a small gift and a pin.
Nominations can be made by going to the County’s website or by phoning FCSS at 780-532-9727.
