Sidewalk, Trail Programs approved
At last night’s meeting, city council approved this year’s sidewalk program tender.
Four and a half kilometres of sidewalks will be fixed at a cost of $2,551,235.
The sidewalks to be replaced are located in Ivy Lake, Mountview, the VLA and along Poplar Drive.
Council has also approved a tender for this year’s trail program. A total of $546,030.75 will go towards 1115 metres of new trails and upgrades to 870 metres of existing ones.
Skateboard park expansion approved
City Council has approved a proposed expansion to the Muskoseepi skateboard park.
The work would cost $473,500. It would cover design and construction for the expansion plus a skate park master plan that would guide future decisions around such facilities.
Construction is expected to start this fall.
New fire truck approved
Grande Prairie city council has approved a tender worth $535,716 for a custom-built fire engine.
It would have four-by-four capabilities that would allow better access in rural and agricultural areas, something the city needs after annexation.
A total of $110,716 was taken from two other projects to cover the cost. Those projects are not affected as their cost is covered by other means.
