The Grande Prairie Firefighters Charitable Foundation is putting on another fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
Spokesperson Colton Macdonald says the MD Rooftop Campout will take place atop Better Than Fred’s, with a goal to raise $10,000.
“On the weekend itself we are going to be holding certain fitness challenges with certain gyms throughout town as well as a charity barbeque and charity food drive through out the weekend so basically firefighters will be set up on the street with fire boots and we’ll just be looking to fill the boots with donations.”
He adds there will be fundraising efforts before the campout.
“The fundraising leading up to the event will be through sponsorship, so we are going to be speaking with local Grande Prairie businesses that are interested in helping out to gain sponsorship support. That $500 gets them a shootout on our Facebook page, some advertising through the event, as well as any radio events that we do and interviews that we do throughout the weekend.”
He says, volunteers will stay on the roof until their goal is met.
The first fundraiser, Buck for Luck fundraiser raised $6,000.
