The 2017 Rotary Dream Home draw was Wednesday night, seeing Grande Prairie’s Adam Hickson winning the $1.5-million estate.
“We were actually at the Kokanee Comedy Night was just about to start and it was just about to start. We were kind of following the winners on Facebook and then all of a sudden my phone started blowing up before I even got a call and we found out we won, I got a message that said you’re the winner, so I checked and saw my name.” says Adam Hickson.
Hickson says he can’t believe he won and loves the house.
“I like the whole thing, the stair-case in the middle is wonderful, I like the… just the building of it is great and the workmanship, I walked through here about a month ago and we loved it.”
He says he doesn’t know whether he is moving in yet, but with a baby on the way, his girlfriend and he will be discussing what to do next.
Sexsmith’s Matthew Watson claimed half of the $486,640 50-50 draw last night.
Raffle Manager Kevin Hilgers says that draw saw a record year.
He adds, this year brought in more dollars and 1500 more customers than last year.
All funds raised from this year’s ticket sales will benefit organizations in the region.
