The Saint Lawrence Centre homeless drop in program is hosting its “Spring Kick-off”
Project Lead, Jared Gossen says the event is a way to showcase what was accomplished over the winter.
“Spring Kick-Off is just an opportunity for supporters and volunteers and our staff to all get together and review the winter. We’re going to be showcasing some of the art and different projects that our visitors have been working on, we’ll have a couple of handouts and reports that people can take with them. It’s very casual, so there won’t be any type of program…its dropping in and dropping out.”
He adds, the event is to draw attention to the 2000-strong fundraising campaign.
The initiative aims to recruit 2000 residents to donate $50 a year to support the year-round drop in program.
Gossen says the initiative already has hundreds of supporters.
“We’re hoping we should break 300 supporters here any day and then our goal for this year is to reach 600 by August, so to double that 300. Some supporters have come and gone, really we’re kept open by people giving so much more than $50 a year.”
The Kick-off will be April 27th at Esquires Coffee House in Railtown on Resources Road from 6:30 to 8:30.
