“Amazing” is how organizers are describing the Small Town Saturday Night concert held last weekend in La Glace.
La Glace Ag. Society President Jade Nyland says ticket sales plus other events throughout the day raised over $104,000 for the new community’s new recreation facility.
“We’re just overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. We had a fantastic team of volunteers who dedicated so much time to making the event possible and such a success. We had a huge number of sponsors and donations come forward. The crew from Big Valley (Jamboree) was just phenomenal and everything went off without a hitch.”
Nyland adds the money raised will “go directly towards the construction of our new regional recreation centre that will be built in La Glace. We are hoping to break ground on that within the next couple months. It will (include) an ice surface, there will be a walking track and a few multi-purpose meeting rooms and activity areas.”
Nyland says the people attending all had good things to say about the concert and that organizers did not hear anything negative.
