Wildfire officials are asking farmers planning to burn old crop to consider baling and removing it, then burning away from the field .
They say burning on fields can hurt soil health, destroy nutrients and harm air quality.
They also say anyone planning to burn old crop will need a permit.
The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Management Area is considered moderate.
Two small wildfires started in the last 24 hours. One is out, the other is under control.
