In celebration of Grande Prairie Regional College’s 50th Anniversary, they gave a sneak peak of a time capsule from 25 years ago this morning.
The unveiling included newspapers, letters, books, GPRC Wolves jerseys and much more.
“We didn’t know what was in the time capsule. Today was an informal event to see what’s there,” said Carmen Haakstad, Vice President of External Affairs at GPRC. “We’re going to be recycling the time capsule and re-planting it for our 50th [anniversary].”
He says anyone in the region who would like to re-seal something in the time capsule, which will be opened in 2042 for the institution’s 75th anniversary, can pay $50 and that money will go back into the college’s scholarship program.
“There’s one other event that actually seals the time capsule, so hopefully people can come out to that,” Haakstad added.
The Celebrating Dreams 50th Anniversary event is set for May 27, 2017.
