The County says on Friday, approximately 500 vehicles were stopped at checks set up by the County Regional Enforcement Services and Public Works department this around various recycling and waste management sites.
Police issued one ticket and six warnings.
“Securing your load is important on an environmental level to keep windblown litter off our land, open space and out of our water,” said Jennifer Besinger, Technical Services Manager. “It also ensures other drivers are not impacted by flying debris, therefore keeping everyone on the roads safe.”
Twenty-two tickets and 41 warnings were issued for a multitude of other traffic safety offences such as speed, distracted driving, vehicle and operator offences
The annual checks were conducted over the weekend to promote traffic safety, education and enforcement to serve as reminder for motorists to secure their loads.
