The County of Grande Prairie dished out $918,563 in Operating Assistance Grants and Cemetery Improvement Grant money at their meeting last week to various non-profit and volunteer groups.
When asked, Reeve Leanne Beaupre stressed the importance of the funding.
“The money is necessary for improvements and operational opportunities, as well as just keeping the lights on in the building. It’s always wonderful when you’re able to give groups, who work as hard as they do, that kind of funding,” she said. “It’s groups that keep kids and adults busy, and really does speak to the fabric of the community.”
“We have witnessed and experienced the immense benefits that sports, culture and recreation has on individuals, families and our communities. The local non-profit organizations that provide these opportunities are the backbone of our community which is why we remain committed to supporting them,” Beaupre added. “We thank them for their hard work and dedication to quality of life.”
