A huge crowd attended the Bust Out Barbecue and Media Conference at Revolution Place this afternoon, the first official event of Stompede week.
Long-time President Terri Sudnik has been named Stomper of the Year. She says it feels amazing.
“And the reason it feels amazing is because everybody here has put their heart and soul into volunteering to make this event happen, so it means so much to me and the entire committee.”
Sudnik has been on the Stompede Committee for 18 years.
Arne Lavalley of Bezanson is this year’s Wagonmaster.
“It’s a privilege. It’s quite an honour to be asked. As I said earlier, you just have to be old and be around horses all your life,” says Lavalley.
The next big event is tonight’s Stompede Showdown Parade.
It will start at 6 p.m. from Hillside School. It will go south from there, turn west onto 100 Avenue and end in Muskoseepi Park.
