A huge community effort that includes drones, boats and quads has mobilized in the search for a missing dog.
Ten-year-old Ruger was swimming in the Wapiti River near the Canfor Bridge May 21 when he was carried downstream after going after a football.
Co-owner Erin Clarke says a lot of people have offered to help find the brown Pitbull.
“Unbelievable. This city is blowing us away. People have been hiking, they’ve been out there with drones, they’ve been out there with side by side, we’ve had people take their dogs out there scenting.”
Clarke says it’s hard to say why this has generated such a response.
“We just want to find our dog,” she said. “Whether he’s still out there, or whether he didn’t make it out of the water, we just need to find him one way or the other and we’ll do anything.”
Over 900 people, some from other parts of the country, have joined a Facebook group devoted to the search.
