Commercial traffic will be the focus for the month of June’s Step initiative.
RCMP will be conducting inspections of commercial vehicles and deficient ones could be taken out of service and drivers could be fined for those violations.
Sergeant Jeremy Boese says the vehicles being checked include taxi, one ton trucks, super tractors and trailer units.
Boese says commercial traffic is becoming an issue in the region.
“It is a big problem, we have an increased amount of tractor trailer traffic right now, so we need officers to be extra cognizant this month.”
Vehicles which could be fined are vehicles not following the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Standard.
