This year’s milestone Stompede is being called a success.
Rodeo President Terri Sudnik says ticket sales were up and it appears attendance was as well.
“The group from the Canadian Sports Tourism Alliance that came from Ontario for four days and they were taking surveys. And they will be producing for us an Economic Impact Assessment report that will be out and we will share with you in August and what that looks like.”
She says the amount of families and millennials attending the rodeo was up as well.
Also, a chuckwagon legend was saluted at the 40th Stompede Sunday.
Sudnik says Kelly Sutherland received a standing ovation after his last race.
“Kelly is a big reason why the Grande Prairie Stompede exists today and 40 years later. I think everyone needs to salute an individual that has dedicated his life to the western way of life and the cowboy way.”
