Neighbours spotted fires in two separate Grande Prairie homes last night.
City fire crews were called around 6 p.m. when a neighbour noticed flames coming from the garage of an O’Brien Lake home (pictured top). No one was home at the time and the blaze was contained to the garage. Damage is estimated around $80,000. No neighbouring homes were damaged.
Then at 11 p.m. firefighters responded to a duplex fire in South Patterson (pictured bottom). The lone occupant was able to get out safely after a neighbor noticed the fire, which appeared to start on the front deck. The majority of the damage was contained to one side of the duplex. Damages are pegged at around $230,000.
Investigations are underway and the fires are not considered suspicious.
