Grande Prairie’s ALERT organized crime and gang team have arrested 50-year-old Kadir Gobana after seizing 122 fentanyl pills in a bust made on June 9, 2017.
A pair of homes were searched, and at an apartment complex in Patterson Place, the suspect attempted to flee, dumping a bag of fentanyl pills onto the grass of a common area in the process.
Mike Tucker, Communications Director for ALERT says what concerns them most is the suspect’s complete disregard for public safety.
“Our officers had to get on their hands and knees and recover all those pills, but to think a child or even someone’s pet could had easily been caught up in that mess,” said Tucker.
Gobana faces possession for the purpose of trafficking charges, a charge of possession of proceeds of crime and obstructing a police officer.
There was also 8.2 grams of cocaine and $1,590 in cash seized.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 14, 2017.
