New name for Concourse
A city committee is recommending council approve a revised name for the new area being built south of the Montrose Cultural Centre.
It would be called Mamawe Concourse, if council approves.
This would replace the previous name proposal, Mamowepihya Ota.
Mamawe still translates from Woodland Cree as “a gathering place.”
The city had wanted to add the word “Concourse’. The Cree Elder who came up with the original name suggested the shortened version.
Playground upgrade tender going to council
City council will look at an upgrade for the playground at Macklin Field Community Park at its next meeting.
A committee is recommending approval of a tender of $276,812.30.
This would make the playground fully accessible.
The bid is $23,187.70 under budget.
