It’s been almost a week since a man went missing on the Smoky River after the canoe he and two others were in capsized.
On Saturday Al Smith, 60, along with, Brooke Dilworth and Nicole Belcourt headed out for a planned canoe trip on the Simonette River.
When the canoe overturned, the three grabbed onto a floating log and floated for hours before the women managed to swim to shore. Smith was reportedly too tired to do the same.
The women were found suffering from hypothermia and the search is ongoing for Smith.
Teams have been searching by mostly air and when deemed safe, by boat.
Friends of Smith tell our Newsroom that he is employed at the Prairie Mall where he works in maintenance. He was also a massage therapist at a local spa in Grande Prairie.
