This Saturday is the inaugural Grande Prairie Traditional Pow-wow.
The event’s President Walter White says there will be lots of different styles and forms of dancing from age groups ranging from when they are first starting to walk to the elders.
“The colours are amazing, the Grand Entry is probably the most colourful dance in the world and it’s something to come and take in,” said White. “We really urge people to bring chairs and dress accordingly and sunscreen, it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day here in Grande Prairie on Saturday.”
The Grand Entry will take place twice tomorrow, at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m.
White says the event is free to the public and open to everyone.
“We hope everybody can come and take some time and come and explore and celebrate with us, and by all means just come with an open mind and we’re definitely all inclusive, so we welcome everybody to come.”
The event will be taking place from noon to 10 p.m. tomorrow at the Legion Soccer Field.
