A corporate restructuring will take place at city hall over the next few months, as the four main departments are reduced to three.
Community and Safety and Community Growth are being consolidated into one area. That means all issues related to land development will be under one umbrella.
Current Community Safety director Horacio Galanti will oversee the new department, while Community Growth director Koji Miyaji will take over the Community Services portfolio.
That will include departments such as transit and fleet, parks, culture and heritage, as well as Revolution Place and the Eastlink Centre.
Corporate Services will remain the other city service group, with very few changes made to that department.
Meanwhile, areas such as communications, economic development, HR/Health and Safety and Intergovernmental affairs now become the responsibility of City Manager Bob Nicolay.
