UPDATE June 27: Wednesday’s Municipal Government Day venue has changed to Revolution Place due to rain in the forecast
June 26: The City’s 16th Municipal Government Day is Wednesday.
Festivities will be taking place in Muskoseepi Park and will kick off at 4 p.m.
Manager of Inter-governmental Affairs David Olinger says the entire event is free and that there is a little something for everyone, including a BBQ.
“Typical what we would expect to see at a Municipal Government Day is face painting and bouncy castles and our mini train going around,” said Olinger.
There will also be city equipment displays, an RCMP dog handler and his dog, and city information booths.
There will be a concert headlined by Canadian country artist Tim Hicks beginning at around 5:30 p.m.
Olinger also says that there will be no parking in the park that day.
“It’s also a good thing to remind people not to bring their dogs because there will be so many people there and we’re calling for hot weather of course that day and also it’s a non-alcohol sanctioned event so that’s something to keep in mind,” said Olinger.
The City is expecting around 7,000 event goers this year.
