Two Grande Prairie organizations are among 17 getting homeless shelter funding from the provincial government.
Of the $1.2 million, the Elders Caring Society will receive $4,542 and the Wapiti Community Dorm Society $25,000.
“All Albertans deserve a safe place to call home and receive the supports they need to address the challenges they are facing. The issues facing Albertans are multifaceted and this funding will provide those in need with a safe, secure place to rest, eat and focus on getting back on their feet,” said Irfan Sabir, Minister of Community and Social Services.
Most of the funding will be used for routine maintenance like roof repair as well as security upgrades.
