The annual report on Ending Homelessness is Friday in Grande Prairie.
The free community event is being put on by the City of Grande Prairie’s Community Social Development department as well as the Community Advisory Board on Housing.
Speakers include the mayor as well as an individual with lived experience and emceeing the event is Jared Gossen, Project Lead from the Saint Lawrence Centre.
In 2015 the city initiated its five-year plan to end homelessness and this is a chance for people to learn more about the Homeless Initiatives and progress made in Grande Prairie.
“This event is an opportunity for the citizens of Grande Prairie to come out and celebrate the progress being made on ending homelessness in our City. We truly are seeing a decrease in homelessness and it is our chance to share our successes,” says Katherine Schmidt, Homeless Initiatives Supervisor, for the city.
It happens 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Theresa Sargent Hall and includes a free BBQ.
