Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Peace Region

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of the Peace Region.

Areas covered in the warning are Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Hythe, Demmit, Wembley, Sexsmith, La Glace, Greenview, DeBolt, O’Brien, Little Smoky, Valleyview, Sturgeon Lake, Wapiti, Hinton, Grande Cache, Whitecourt, Edson, Fox Creek and Swan Hills.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and will have the potential to produce golf ball sized hail, strong wind gusts and torrential rain.
