Liquidation sales at Sears in Grande Prairie start at 9:30 this morning.
Discounts will start at 20 per cent for everything in the store except for home furnishings, which will be knocked down 10 per cent.
Throughout the duration of the liquidation, the local store will continue to receive stock from other locations including fashion, small appliances, toys and shoes, while the cosmetics department here has already been cleared out and shipped to other stores.
Canada-wide, 59 stores will close and about 2,900 jobs will be cut as part of the company’s plans to restructure under court protection from creditors.
Grande Prairie’s store is slated to close in October with 111 local employees losing their jobs.
