Darren Sydorko, 23, of Grande Prairie faces 16 charges following an eventful vehicle and foot chase on Saturday.
A police officer on bike patrol observed a suspect vehicle at approximately 9 p.m. July 22 near 100 Avenue and Muskoseepi Park. The vehicle drove towards police after they attempted to signal for the vehicle to stop. Mounties did manage to get out of the way.
RCMP spotted the vehicle at a City construction site a short time later, leading the suspect to drive erratically on 100 Avenue and 116 Street, dangerously close to workers in that area.
Sydorko then allegedly continued onto Highway 43, before leading RCMP through fields, where he was eventually stopped when a spike belt was deployed. He then attempted to flee on foot, but was located and arrested with the help of Police Dog Services.
His charges include:
– Impaired operation of a Motor Vehicle
– Assault with a weapon x 2
– Assault of a police officer
– Resisting Arrest
– Operate motor vehicle when pursued by police x 2
– Mischief over $5000.00 x 2
– Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle x 7
Sydorko will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on July 31, 2017. He has been remanded into custody.
