Municipal elections are coming this fall and the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce is looking to start the debate.
CEO Dan Pearcy says it is looking for members to send in what they consider hot-button issues.
“What we’re looking for is trying to create awareness that there is an election coming and trying to figure out what the issues are and help communicate those issues to people who are running for office.”
Members who want to participate can e-mail the Chamber at firstname.lastname@example.org
“We’re trying to do this from the business side of things. We know there’ll be a whole bunch of questions that are related to other things, but we’re looking for the business concerns. We have concerns that we have within the Chamber that we have on our advocacy role, but we actually want to hear from our members,” says Pearcy, adding “We’ll put together a group of questions and send those questions off to the candidates and we’ll post those results on our web site.”
Pearcy says the Chamber plans to have an all-candidates forum for those running in the city and an open house for those running in the County of Grande Prairie sometime in October.
Election Day is October 16.
