Local businessman Keith Curtis has been named the new Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.
He has been involved with Foundation fund-raisers like the Festival of Trees and the $20-million Key to Care Campaign.
Foundation Chair Serge Martin says that past involvement helped Curtis land this new role.
“Keith had a history in the community of philanthropy. He had a history of support for the Foundation and I believe it was a fit that was a natural connection for the two.”
He does not expect any big changes with a new Executive Director in charge.
“The Foundation is still in its current campaign, still a $20-million target. That won’t change and it’s the same direction we’ve always had (and that is) to offer the best possible health care and equipment and services to the residents of Grande Prairie and area.”
Martin says they are pleased with how the Key to Care effort has gone so far.
“I know the last 18 months or 24 months in the Peace Region have been a challenge for a lot of groups and ours has been no different. I think we’ve had some fantastic support from the community, from business and from our volunteers who have helped continue to push towards that goal.”
Family reasons meant Curtis could not attend the news conference where his hiring was announced.
