The mayor of Beaverlodge is hoping for an update soon from the province in regards to the new health facility.
Leona Hanson says they remain in contact with the provincial government waiting for an answer.
“The latest communications we’ve heard continue to be that they are still working on the business case and so we are seeking out more information from them and waiting for some updates as well.”
In the meantime, she says the community continues to raise money for the facility.
A grade two class and high school social studies class are the most recent to have donated money to the West County Health Facility Fund.
“It’s pretty impressive when you see these young people come and present to council and you can see that they feel just as strongly as we do about how important the hospital is to our community and that they chose that project to donate their money towards.”
Over $91,000 in cash has been donated so far with a total over one million that includes the value of the donated land.
In May the infrastructure minister said the government was nearing completion of the facility design plan.
