The body of a 15-year-old boy, who was swept away in a Smoky River undercurrent Friday, has been recovered.
Corporal Chris Warren, a spokesman with the RCMP, says the body was found about two kilometres downstream from where he was last seen.
“The RCMP would like to express condolences to the family and our thoughts are with them and the community of Spirit River during this difficult time. The RCMP would also like to thank those who contributed their efforts in the search,” adds Warren.
The boy was swimming with friends about 10 kilometres from the Watino Bridge when he was caught in an undercurrent and pulled under the water.
Warren says RCMP will not be releasing his name, but do say he was from Wanham.
The Hutterite community has previously identified him as Jerald Tschetter.
