The city has a number of events and activities lined up for Heritage Day.
City spokesperson Robin White says celebrations start 11:00 Monday morning at Muskoseepi Park with cultural performances and displays as well as food vedors of various ethnicities.
At the Grande Prairie Museum there will be a petting zoo, old-fashioned carnival games as well as historic demonstrations.
White says they want to celebrate the heritage of Grande Prairie and Canada.
“You see the past pioneer families, where we came from and then over 150 years we’ve gone from a small pioneer family to this massive multi-cultural community that we see out there on the streets.”
At the Eastlink Centre there will be family friendly activities as well from 12 to 5 p.m.
