The St. Lawrence Centre’s annual Summer Feast and Outdoor Movie Night is tonight.
Everything will kick off at the Muskoseepi Park Amphitheatre with a BBQ at 6 p.m.
Jared Gossen, Project Lead with the St. Lawrence Centre, says the BBQ is by donation, and there will be other opportunities for people to drop a toonie where they see fit.
“The whole idea is to provide an event that is accessible to the entire community, no matter what your income level is. That’s why it’s by donation and outdoors,” said Gossen. “So, we really are trying to support the Centre through this as well, but it’s accessible even if people aren’t able to pay.”
Live music gets underway at 6:30 p.m. and will go until the movie starts at 8:30 p.m.
“This year we’re showing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it’s not out on video yet, so if you want to see it early you can come down to the park on Friday,” said Gossen, who added the event has something for everyone.
“We have a bluegrass Celtic group, we have some folks doing kind of more rock and alternative, we got a hip-hop duo, so there’s something for every musical taste there. There’s bouncy castles for the kids, obviously everybody loves to eat and then the movie, it’s rated PG, so we could just ask that everybody be familiar with the Marvel series and Guardians of the Galaxy.”
All proceeds from the event is going to support the Centre’s winter program, which provides daytime and evening shelter for people living on the street.
