Grande Prairie City Hall is asking residents to water trees and shrubs.
In a release, the city says some trees are showing signs of getting very dry in all this heat.
Experts are worried the trees will go into early dormancy, which could lead to them dying over winter, if they don’t get some water.
They say the best way to water mature trees is to put a hose on trickle, leave it where rain would normally drip off the outside branches of the tree and let it run for an hour. This should be done in several spots.
Signs of drought stress include yellowing leaves and dead branches.
