The Town of Beaverlodge is throwing a big party this weekend.
Fair 150 coincides with Canada’s 150 and Mayor Leona Hanson says Brier and world curling champ Geoff Walker will be back in town to help celebrate.
“To lead our parade and then be around for a community BBQ that takes place after the parade at our sports grounds, so have an opportunity for people to come out and say ‘hi’ to Geoff and congratulate him on his multiple wins in the curling world.”
Something that isn’t done often, Walker says he will be bringing the Brier Tankard along with him.
“The Tankard’s going to be up there for the parade and the festivities, it is going to be a lot of fun to have that (Tankard) and showcase it and get some pictures.”
The fair starts Friday morning with fireworks Friday night and the parade is 10 a.m. Saturday.
Walker will be signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After the meet and greet with Walker, a banner unveiling/hanging ceremony will take place at the Beaverlodge Curling Club at 1:30 p.m.
