Hockey will return to Revolution Place Friday night, for the 2nd Storm Alumni Game.
Team Business Manager Dennis Rix says 28 former Storm players will be taking part.
“We have a good group of alumni guys. Obviously, Carter Rowney (pictured above) being the head-liner there, coming off a Stanley Cup. We have Tanner Fritz, who plays in the American (Hockey) League and Darren Kramer, also in the American League, so some good names there.”
He adds its is good to keep alumni involved in supporting the team.
“It’s a great tool for mentorship, obviously, some great role models there like Carter Rowney, Tanner Fritz, Darren Kramer all playing in the pros now. It’s a big thing just to get some interest back as well from the alumni who might have been forgotten about over the years, just let them know we appreciate their time with the Storm and they’re always welcome back.”
There will be a whole weekend of alumni events.
“We’re doing the hockey game Friday night and then we’re having a golf tournament Saturday at the Dunes, with a 12 o’clock shotgun start. So, definitely a fund-raiser for the Storm and, obviously, a good opportunity to get the alumni back involved. (It will be) a nice, fun weekend for the guys and if it can help out the Storm for the season here, that’s a great benefit too.”
That game will go Friday night at 7:30 at Revolution Place. Tickets at box office or at the door. The golf tournament is open to the public. Anyone interested in taking part can contact Rix at the Storm office.
