The County of Grande Prairie says it will not help four property owners in Wedgewood affected by collapsing slopes.
Some residents spoke to County council Monday, asking a second geo-technical study be done.
In a statement, Reeve Leanne Beaupre says after a lot of debate, Council determined that no action be taken.
Council felt its obligations had already been met through a preliminary study and site assessments and that it would be unfair for ratepayers to have to bear the costs of actions taken by private property owners on their own land.
The County says it is under no legal obligation to help and that a lot of the problems came about because current and former landowners did not follow caveats attached to original development permits that would have avoided such issues.
