June 2018 remains the target opening date for Bear Creek Pool. The City is continuing their large-scale renovations on the 55-year-old facility this week.
Additional barricades have been put up as drilling work takes place throughout the week. Crews are drilling between the pool and pavilion to accommodate water and power lines.
“What they’re doing is some underground drilling and they just want to make sure that the patrons of the park are safe,” said Chris Cronk, Customer Service Manager at Muskoseepi Park. “We’re just kind of giving everybody the heads up that it might be a little bit of a longer walk to the spray park, tennis courts or basketball courts.”
Once complete, the facility will be state of the art, according to Cronk.
“There’s going to be a little kids spray area, a zero entry beach, some Roman steps. They’re going to be setting it up so that the deeper end will be available for people to be able to play volleyball or basketball in the water, as well I believe it is a two-circle water slide.”
It is anticipated the drilling work will be done within a week.
The pool was originally constructed in 1962.
