Another candidate running for leadership of the United Conservative Party of Alberta will be in Grande Prairie this week.
Doug Schweitzer says our area has a different vibe than the rest of the province.
“I know Grande Prairie, it is one of the regions of Alberta that still has some growth going on right now, there are lots of opportunities but lots of challenges that come along with that. You know long-term dealing with resource development, making sure that we get access for those resources to market is a big thing.”
He says he is looking forward to the visit.
“As the campaign goes on you have to get to every corner of Alberta and coming up to Grande Prairie for me is a little bit of a homecoming. My grandparents homesteaded near the Hythe-Goodfare area after World War One, so I still have lots of family in the community.”
The Meet and Greet with Schweitzer is at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre Wednesday night (August 23rd) 7-9 p.m.
Also running for the UCP leadership are Jeff Callaway, Brian Jean and Jason Kenney.
