The inaugural Saskatoon Island Provincial Park Fair has been cancelled.
It was to go next month but due to staffing issues, has been postponed until September 2018.
“Over the summer months we had a number of staff taking leaves of absences or moving onto other parks division positions in southern Alberta so we weren’t confident that we’d be able to carry out and successfully deliver this new event in the fall of 2017,” said Calvin McLeod with Alberta Parks.
He says once staffing vacancies are filled, someone will be assigned the fair and planning the event will begin.
This fall fair was to replace the spring Swan Festival.
“We would invite people out to the park and there should be swans right in Saskatoon Lake at that time of the year and so people would be able to walk around the lake on the various walking trails and have a look at swans.”
McLeod says there would also be vendors set up similar to a farmer’s market along with family friendly activities.
