Demand is high for the annual Tools for School campaign this year.
School supplies are collected for students and Joanne Donovan, the General Manager at Staples in Grande Prairie says they are running low on donations.
“And one of the biggest trends that we are noticing is how many high school students that we are getting this year and because they are high school students, the cost of a backpack is much more when they have to have a bigger backpack, bigger binders, you know all those kid of things that makes it much more expensive.”
She says despite the economy picking up this year, demand is higher than last year.
“This year we have some agencies and stuff that we didn’t have last year and we have a few more people that have come forward and said, ‘I am a family in need and we need it’. The United Way does a good job of making sure they find out who needs things the most and we provide it for them.”
You can make or drop off donations at the local Staples or Costco.
