Environment Canada has a special air quality statement in effect for most of the Peace Region.
The statement takes in the Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Valleyview, Fairview, High Prairie, Peace River and Manning areas. Hinton, Grande Cache, Fox Creek and Whitecourt are also included.
Smoke from a fire in southern Alberta and all the fires still burning in BC has led to poor air quality.
People may experience headaches, throat irritation, shortness of breath and coughing.
Seniors, kids and people with cardiovascular or lung disease are most at risk.
