Eleven local venues were accredited at the fourth annual Best Bar None awards Tuesday night in Grande Prairie.
However, four venues stood above the rest.
Howler’s Lounge took home top honours for campus bar, Maddhatters for best bar/club, Boston Pizza Northside best lounge and the Great Northern Casino best casino.
“The AGLC is proud of Grande Prairie’s Best Bar None venues. These establishments continue to raise the bar on service standards and redefine what being the ‘best’ in the hospitality industry means with respect to customer service and safety. Whether you live in Grande Prairie or just visiting, these are the places to visit for a fun, enjoyable night out,” said Michelle Hynes-Dawson, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Reputation for the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.
The awards recognize the “ongoing efforts of local hospitality establishments to demonstrate responsible liquor service and patron safety”.
“Grande Prairie residents expect to be able to enjoy a night out with friends in a safe environment and that’s why we are so proud to have supported Best Bar None for the past four years. The establishments that have achieved BBN accreditation are showing that they are committed to patron safety and they deserve to be recognized for that,” said Bill Given, Mayor of Grande Prairie.
Best Bar None is a partnership between the City of Grande Prairie, Enforcement Services, RCMP, Crime Prevention, the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and the Grande Prairie Fire Department.
