Four people will be running for Mayor of Grande Prairie in the October 16 Municipal Election. Dick Baillie, Theodore Nikiforuk and Rony Rajput are all challenging incumbent Bill Given. Nineteen people are running for the eight spots on city council, four of them incumbents. This is the largest amount of candidates running for city council since 1983 when there were 17.
Current Councillors Dwight Logan, Lorne Radbourne, Helen Rice and Rory Tarant are not seeking re-election.

In the County of Grande Prairie, Harold Bulford in Division 1 and Karen Rosvold in Division 8 are back in by acclamation. All other divisions will have elections. The candidates in each division are listed below.

In Beaverlodge, all six council seats have been filled by acclamation. Two people, Roger Loberg and Gary Rycroft, are running to replace current Mayor Leona Hanson. She is not seeking re-election.
In Sexsmith, incumbent Mayor Claude Legace is also back in by acclamation. Ten people are running for the six seats on town council.
Three incumbents and five newcomers are running for village council in Rycroft.
There will not be a municipal election in Wembley this fall. Mayor Chris Turnmire is back in by acclimation. Six councillors, four of them incumbents, have also been elected by acclimation.
In Spirit River, four people are running for Mayor. Incumbent Allan Georget is being challenged by Garth Glassel, Wayne Meyer and Dean Scott. All six council spots have been filled by acclimation. Council will include three newcomers and three incumbents.
In Hythe, seven candidates are running for the five spots on village council. Two of the candidates are incumbents.
In Fairview, Gordon MacLeod has been returned to office by acclimation. Ten people are running for the six council seats.
Election Day is October 16.
