The public can learn all about the selection of candidates for City Council and Mayor at an upcoming event. First Vice Chair of the Grande Prairie Chamber Board Cris Seppola has worked out how they will give 19 Council Candidates and four Mayor hopefuls a chance to speak at an All Candidates Forum.
“This year it is a little different,” said Seppola “We are not taking questions from the floor. We are asking anyone who wants to join us to write their questions down and hand it in at the door. We wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to speak and we thought this might make things more efficient.”
It will be held at Revolution Place from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on October 3rd.
County candidates will have a chance to talk to the public at their own event as well. The Chamber is putting together another gathering together the day following the forum.
“For this, there is no formal program. Anyone who is interested can come and go anytime between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.”
County hopefuls with gather at Centre 2000 for that event on October 4th.
In the county, Harold Bulford and Karen Rosvold have been acclaimed to their spots in Division 1 and Division 8, respectively. The other seven Divisions have two to three people running for the seat.
