The province says $200-million dollars worth of improvements are coming to the stretch of Highway 40 between Grande Prairie and Hinton.
A release from the province says that will include widening, repaving, climbing lanes, two new bridges, repairs to the Wapiti Bridge, new culverts and new rest areas.
“Our government’s investment in these critical projects along Highway 40 supports the transportation network Albertans rely on every day. These highway improvements will continue to ensure this region has the infrastructure needed to allow for the safe, efficient movement of goods and people. Our investment sends a clear signal that this region continues to be open for business,” said Brian Mason, Minister of Transportation.
The money will fund 18 projects. Work has already started on five of those projects while others will start next year.
The complete project list can be found here.
